A few key items to consider in the Marion County Utilities Expansion Project
-
Expansion from the rated 1.6 million gallons per day (mgd) to 3.5 mgd of waste
-
The capacity to fill almost three and a half Olympic size swimming pools daily
-
Aging pipeline infrastructure including purge valves, pumps, and connections
-
Increased foul odors, additional noise, more large buildings, more traffic
-
Potential to decrease property values and overall quality of life
-
Modification/improvements to offsite infrastructure is not a part of facility expansion
-
Service area boundaries are fluid and can adjust to accommodate proposed growth
-
The overall cost to expand the facility has not been determined
-
Currently 90 lift stations and 15 purge valves connect directly to the treatment facility
